Chaminé 2011

Chaminé – pronounced: sha-min-E; translation: chimney. The name Chaminé originates from one of our vineyard plots – ‘Chaminé de Gião’, where originally the grapes used in the wine were grown.

A juicy, ripe, easy drinking wine, bottled early, usually within 6 months of harvest time and without any oak ageing. Best drunk young, but will improve with short term cellaring. Mainly Aragonez and Syrah, blended with other Portuguese varieties.

Reviews

Sweet cherry and wild plum flavors feature some interesting graphite edges. Smoke tinges mark the crisp finish. – Wine Spectator

Forward, fruity and crisp, this is an attractive wine. It’s red berry flavor and bright acidity is layered with smoky tannins. Not for aging, so drink over the next 2−3 years. – Wine Enthusiast

Soft and a bit sweet and easygoing, this has a certain amount of charm,.. Light and elegant, with that slightly sweet finish, this is a familiar style in entry level wines, but one thing that makes this a bit better as a rule–there is a little structure here to support the tasty, if not terribly concentrated fruit. It drinks easy and well. Drink it relatively cool and it will be a big picnic hit in the summer. Take it for what it is – it fulfills its modest goals well. – Robert Parker
