Latest Parker Ratings
We just received news of the latest Parker ratings for our current vintages. Here they are:-
CHAMINÉ TINTO 2008 – RATING: 85 points
The 2008 CHAMINE Tinto, the winery’s entry level red, is principally Syrah and Aragonez. Grapey, young and exuberant, this is a wine that is long in fun. Aromatic and flavorful, it is also bright and sunny, not just fruit forward, thankfully. There is not much mid-palate concentration, but its intensity of flavor may make it a party favorite for many given its attractive price range. Drink now-2013. -Mark Squires
CHAMINÉ BRANCO 2008 – RATING: 87 points
The 2008 CHAMINE white is principally a blend of Verdelho, Viognier and Antao Vaz. Just a little green, bright and spicy, it is light but focused, with nice flavors and bright, succulent finish. It is a pleasure to drink, quite charming, and a nice value. Drink young for best results. Drink now-2010 .-Mark Squires
CORTES DE CIMA 2007 – RATING: 88 points
The 2007 TINTO, merely labeled “Cortes de Cima,” is the mid-priced entrant in the lineup, a blend this year of Aragonez, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Touriga Nacional and Petit Verdot aged for 12 months in barrel. If you want to see what happens to the Chamine reviewed this issue with more depth, concentration and structure...voila. This is nicely focused, with some concentration and intensity of flavor and grip on the finish. It has a modern, New World style, but turns a little austere and crisp on the finish, too. If you like the style- fruit forward and flavorful – this is a very good vintage for this wine. The winery recommends drinking by 2014-that sounds about right, but I think it should hold a bit longer, even if not at peak. Drink now-2016 – Mark Squires
