Medals Rain Down for Alentejo
Everyone knows the old adage -’Em Abril águas mil‘ or ‘Spring showers bring May flowers‘.
In sharp contrast to a very wet, cold winter, we have had an unusually dry, cold spring. This markedly low rainfall has coincided with the vineyard calendar of budbreak and flowering falling slightly behind previous year’s norms, but it being so early in the season, it can still quickly catch up.
Although rainfall has been very sparse during these usually wet Spring months, we have been drenched by a shower of medals raining down from international competitions, in an almost torrential downpour!
Results have rained down in a quick succession tallying a total of 31 GOLD, SILVER, BRONZE and COMMENDED for our Wines and Olive Oil
Competitions have included: for Olive Oil - L.A. Intl. Olive Oil Competition and Concours Nacional de Azeite. And for Wine: International Wine Challenge, Decanter World Wine Awards, International Wine & Spirits Challenge, (all in the UK), Concours Mondial (Bruxelles).
We were very happy to have been able to once again show the French how Syrah is made in Portugal, bringing home for the second year another Gold Medal from the Syrah du Monde (France).
