The missing Trophies
If you have ever visited our cellar door shop at the winery, you would have noticed that the walls are filled to the brim with Trophies, Gold Medals, Best of Class and Best of Nation Awards – over 60 at last tally, and still counting! If you visited there this week, you couldn’t fail to notice the large gap in the center, due to the missing trophies!
Last week we were invited to London, to receive 2 trophies from the International Wine Challenge 2008 - the Portuguese Red Wine Trophy and the Alentejo Trophy – both awarded to our Cortes de Cima Touriga Nacional 2005.
Although we were greatly honored at having won the Trophies, we just couldn’t juggle the start of our grape harvest in Alentejo, with attending the very formal International Wine Challenge Awards Dinner, held at a swanky Park Lane hotel in London. – “Last night the IWC played host to the one of the largest gatherings of the global wine trade in many years. The champions of the 2008 competition were revealed on an evening that is generally accepted as the Oscars of the wine trade. People came from around the world to collect their awards at the Grosvenor House, one of London’s most prestigious hotels.”
Obviously the grape harvest won, we stayed put in the Alentejo, and are now awaiting for the Trophies to arrive to fill that missing gap on the wall of our Cellar Door Shop.
Touriga Nacional 2005 (available in very limited quantity) will be launched this fall. Stay tuned!

Many congratulations on your trophies! As someone who worked in the background at the IWC this April and saw the thousands of wines being judged, I realise how prestigious a trophy is. But to get 2 is awesome! I can’t wait to try your wine.
Where will it be available in the UK?

Hi Colin,
Thanks for your comment. At the moment, Chaminé is available at Majestic and Oddbins, and Syrah can be found at Waitrose. We are looking for a distributor for our other brands and for the on-trade in the UK.
