There is always plenty of speculation about the integrity of certain wine competitions, and that's one reason we try to be very selective in the competitions we enter, and avoid the doubtful ones! As a "trainee" judge at the IWSC I was impressed with integrity of the whole judging process. I never did taste any Portuguese though - my 2 days were Argentina and Italy. Good luck!
