Hall of Fame

Over the years, we have received many medals, prizes and honours. There are a few that are particularly special to us. To highlight them we have listed them here chronologically.

International Wine Challenge London 2008 Touriga Nacional 2005 “The Trophies: the Cream of the Crop. These are the very top wines of the year, picked from amongst the Gold medal winners. Individual Trophies don’t have to be awarded each year – a region or a grape variety may not receive one if the quality is not deemed high enough. So the wines picked are all something rather special.”

Os melhores de 1999 Revista de VinhosPortuguese Wines Magazine / Revista de Vinhos every year hold its version of the Oscars of the Portuguese wine world, presenting its selection of the year’s best wines, producers, winemakers, and Discovery from the Portuguese wine world. Feeling ouselves still somewhat outsiders of the Portuguese wine community, we were suprised when asked to attend the Gala event, and even more suprised, when Cortes de Cima was honoured with the first award of the evening Discovery of the Year. – “The Alentejo can only motivate those with the incentive to succeed. The Jorgensens have all the dynamism – and charm – required to ensure a rosy future.” During the same evening, we were called onto the stage once more to receive an Award of Excellence for Incógnito 1998, ironically at that time, a still ‘illegal’ Syrah! – “It serves as the perfect model for other Alentejo Syrahs to follow.”

Intense concentration, strong tannins, aromatic complexity with a refreshing natural acidity.

One of the ‘noble’ Bordeaux varieties. A late ripener, it is better suited for warmer climates, like Alentejo, where it can reach a good maturity, resulting in wines of intense concentration and color, strong tannins and aromatic complexity, while maintaining it’s freshness, thanks to it’ s ability to maintain it’s natural acidity.
