Welcoming winter in the Alentejo

Winter has finally arrived in the Alentejo. Already in early December the first early morning frosts have arrived, and the winter long task of pruning the vines has begun with a kick start.  Some might assume that nothing much goes on in the vineyard once the leaves have fallen off and the vines lay dormant, but pruning is actually one of the most labour intensive periods, as the workforce slowly progress though the vineyard during the long winter months.
