92 points -  2012 Cortes de Cima Reserva

“Compared by the winery to the elegant 2008, this is indeed a very graceful Reserva, fresh, lifted and sophisticated. The mid-palate finesse is exceptional, giving this a very refined feel. For all of its elegance, the structure allows it to have grip on the finish. The lifted fruit lingers nicely, laced with a touch of beef, blueberries and herbs. It finishes dry and seriously. This is a Reserva that has a certain understatement to it. It is also one of those elegant wines that will drain quickly at the table. Then, you'll realize how much you liked it.” Drink  2017 - 2032

“This is a fresh Syrah this year with a lively feel, but it still has a bit more lushness than the regular Syrah this issue. The texture is a bit creamy. It also has less character and purity, while its concentration level is not all that much greater, notwithstanding that lusher feel up front. It does have a bit more power and a more serious backbone, which will let it age better, but the tannins are still rather ripe. This is a pleasure to drink and sexier than the regular Syrah, but it is on the understated side this year.“

“This is a white that has a little of everything—the Sauvignon Blanc aromatics are notable, but they are controlled by the other varieties. The texture comes from the Alvarinho, most likely, and the wood. The Viognier is a little lost in the shuffle, but it undoubtedly plays a role in moderating the Sauvignon Blanc nuances so that they are spices rather than hit-you-over-the-head hammers. Smooth, rather rich and enticing, it finishes with a juicy and flavorful burst of fruit. This is hard to resist when young - don't hesitate to dive in now and over the next year or so, no matter how long it theoretically lasts.“

88 points -     2016 Cortes de Cima Alvarinho

“Nicely aromatic, smooth and caressing, this is enticing and tasty on the finish. The fruit is fresh, but overall  the wine has a certain understated feel to it this year. It seems relatively richer, with a bit less intensity than last year's, granting that I don't have them here together. Overall, this is a lovely Alvarinho, understated but persistent, another bit of proof that the grape can do well in Alentejo.“

87 points -     2014 Cortes de Cima Syrah

“This still shows pretty well. Lately, this has been a bottling that has leaned to elegance. It shows typical mid-palate finesse and a bright, lifted feel to the fruit. It is very Rhône-like in style. The juicy finish delivers a complex flavor medley laced with beef and a hint of game. Those nuances pop up early and often here. In other years, they are a little harder to find until the wine has aired out a bit more. This doesn't have a lot of concentration, but it is a fine food wine. It faded a bit as it aired, but it still should be a very nice house pour.“
