Chaminé Branco

Herbaceous crispness with a final burst of acidity. A blend of Portuguese and international varieties.

Vintage

Characterized by very favorable growing season conditions and led to one of the best vintages in recent years. Cold and dry winter, warm and dry summer, free of heat waves, dry September.

Vinification

A blend of grapes grown sustainably from our cool Alentejan Atlantic coastal vineyards with grapes grown in our inland vineyards. Harvested during the cool hours of the early morning, the grapes were destemmed and pressed, followed by settling at low temperatures for 24 hours. Fermented at controlled temperatures in tanks for 15 days and matured on fine lees, with regular stirring. Fined, filtered and bottled to maintain its clean, crisp flavours.

Our Winemakers Comments

Exotic fruit aromas. The palate is elegant with a good fruit intensity, and a nice balancing acidity to a persistent flavorsome finish.

Reviews

"This is a zestier white than most from Central Alentejo, because the first 70% of the juice in fact comes from the winery’s newer coastal vineyards. This has become a perennial bargain in a fresh, lighter-styled white, reminding me a bit of Vinho Verde at times (without fizz, of course). It’s hard to go wrong at the price point, which makes it a “buy-it-every-year” type of summer picnic wine. Crisp, fresh and pointed, it is not overly concentrated, but it always tastes great and goes down easy.” – Mark Squires - eRobertParker.com

“With Verdelho and Viognier in the blend, this attractive wine has a ripe perfumed character. It also has a crisp side with its lemon fruits that contrast with the spicy pear and melon. It is ready to drink, bright and crisp at the end.” -  ROGER VOSS – Wine Enthusiast
