Cortes de Cima

Our flagship wine. Full bodied blend of Aragonez, Syrah and other Portuguese varieties.

Vintage

Harvest 2012, our 17th harvest. A record cold and dry winter, followed by a cold and wet spring. Superlative summer. All in all, a quality driven vintage!

Vinification

Our grapes are grown sustainably in our own vineyards. Fermented without stems under controlled temperature, with frequent pisage and delestage. Aged for 12 months in French (80%), American (20%) oak barrels, and then blended to give balanced varietal fruit and oak complexity. Bottled, unfined and filtered.

Reviews

This estate wine from Cortes de Cima is a full and dense blend, brimming with southern warmth. Rich berry fruits give a ripe character, laced with acidity. The still-present tannins from a mix of indigenous and classic grapes aged in French and American barrels do promise to add long life to this wine. – Roger Voss Wine Enthusiast

This has a refined, silky feel and some complexity as the wine shows bits of beef and game on the finish to go with its sappy young fruit. Modest in midpalate concentration, it is still good enough to pick itself up after an overly understated beginning and flesh out a bit. It shows better structure along the way, too, as well as more expressive fruit. The relatively ripe tannins give the fruit nice support and make it a bit more serious. Overall, this came around well and seemed much more interesting with about 20 minutes of air. – Mark Squires eRobertParker.com
