Cortes de Cima Branco

A gastronomic, barrel aged blend of local and international varieties grown on our cool Atlantic coastal vineyards and in the warmer Alentejan interior.

Vintage

Winter rainfall was plentiful, followed by an excellent summer growing season, mild for Alentejan standards. An early harvest with a rapid end, due to the early arrival of September rains.

Vinification

Alvarinho and Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown at our Alentejan Atlantic coast vineyards, are blended with Viognier grapes grown inland at Cortes de Cima. All our grapes are grown sustainably in our own vineyards.

Harvested during the cool hours of the early morning the grapes were destemmed and pressed, followed by settling at low temperatures for 24 hours. Fermented at controlled temperatures in oak barrels and stainless steel tank, matured on fine lees, with regular stirring. Fermented and aged for 6 months in French Oak (40%), and then blended to give balanced varietal fruit and oak complexity. Estate bottled in April 2015.

Reviews

With a touch of cream on the finish, this has sensual texture and a feeling of fullness in the mouth. The fine concentration blends with the texture to make this very caressing, but it does not lose its freshness in favor of other components. It handles the oak easily and finishes clean and a bit fruity. –Mark Squires eRobertParker.com

Well-spiced, with juicy flavors of ripe melon, citrus and kiwi that offer a medium-weight profile. The finish is creamy and lush, with candied ginger and dried apricot notes. – KM – Wine Spectator
