Cortes de Cima Branco

A gastronomic, barrel aged blend of local and international varieties grown on our cool Atlantic coastal vineyards and in the warmer Alentejan interior.

Vintage 2015

Characterized by very favorable growing season conditions and led to one of the best vintages in recent years. Cold and dry winter, warm and dry summer, free of heat waves, dry September.

Vinification

Alvarinho and Sauvignon Blanc grapes grown at our Alentejan Atlantic coast vineyards, are blended with Viognier grapes grown inland at Cortes de Cima.

Harvested during the cool hours of the early morning the grapes were destemmed and pressed, followed by settling at low temperatures for 24 hours. Fermented at controlled temperatures in oak barrels and stainless steel tank, matured on fine lees, with regular stirring. Partially barrel aged for 6 months in French Oak (40% total volume), and then blended to give balanced varietal fruit and oak complexity. Estate bottled in May 2016.

Tasting Notes

The wine shows complex notes of white stone fruits, melon, cashew and vanillan spice. The palate is rich, smooth and textured, with layered fruit and balancing acidity. Very gastronomic.

Reviews

“A rich style, featuring plenty of baking spice elements paired with pureed peach, apple cobbler and melon flavors, kept fresh and focused by vibrant acidity.  Savory herb and spice notes take the lead on the long finish.  Drink now through 2019. “ - 90 points - Gillian Sciaretta - Wine Spectator Aug.31,2017
