In 1991, we were the first ones to plant Syrah in the Alentejo, choosing rootstock from southern Rhone clones.
Characterized by very favorable growing season conditions and led to one of the best vintages in recent years. Cold and dry winter, warm and dry summer, free of heat waves, dry September.
Made exclusively from selected Syrah grapes hand picked at optimum maturity from chosen sites in our own vineyards. Fermented without stems under temperature control, frequent delestage, followed by extended skin maceration to enhance varietal fruit characters, and to provide tannin structure and balance. Aged for 8 months in French oak barrels.
Complex mature fruit aromas, dark stone fruits and spicy oak notes. Richly layered fruit on the palate, solid and well balanced, with very good quality tannins and acidity adding to an elegant finish.
