17/20 – Cortes de Cima Touriga Nacional 2015
"Seductively rich dark-fruit aroma, with mouth-watering freshness even though it has real richness of fruit. Damson, cherry and a light note of Touriga's tell-tale bergamot aroma. Firm, deep and rich on the palate, the fruit filling out the rounded but compact tannin structure. Very well balanced and long. Just a slight chocolately thickness on the finish. More complexity to come, I think, but lots of pleasure now. So moreish I am sure the bottle would soon be finished. Drink 2017-2021" (JH)
16,5/20 – Incognito 2014
"Deep crimson. A slight but not unattractive rubbery reductive note typical of Syrah. Spicy dark fruit that is more restrained on the nose than on the explosive palate. Sweet vanilla-laced black fruit on the palate. Powerful, generous and more Barossa than northern Rhône and still with good freshness on the finish. It's certainly rich and powerful, the tannins firm but perfectly integrated. I just find it slightly heavy-handed, too big, and think more than one glass would be tiring but others will love its rich Syrah density. Drink 2018-2025" (JH)
16,5+/20 – Homenagem a Hans Christian Andersen 2013
"Darkest crimson and still youthful looking. Rich, dark-fruited and tangy, with more energy than the more expensive Cortes de Cima. I would have thought there was a higher proportion of American oak here as there is a real sweetness but maybe it comes from the fruit. Sweet and tangy, almost sweet and sour. Rich, mouth-filling and dense. There's freshness but it seems to stand slightly apart from the sweet fruit. For drinking pleasure, I definitely prefer some of the less ambitious Cortes de Cima wines though these more powerful Syrahs are well made and should have a good future in the bottle. Drink 2017-2025" (JH)
16,5/20 – Cortes de Cima Pinot Noir 2016
"Surprisingly mature colour with signs of brick at the rim. Sweet and sweetly spiced red fruit but pretty and fragrant too. There seems to be both oak sweetness as well as fruit sweetness here but it still has lovely freshness and lively Pinot character – no doubt thanks to the cool climate of these Atlantic vineyards. I'm just surprised at how mature it looks though it is much more youthful on the palate than the colour suggested. Lots of pleasure in an unexpected rendition of Pinot which is undeniably Pinot in character, even from this unlikely origin. Gentle but sufficient tannins. Persistent too. I think there are better-value Pinots available but it's not exactly common in Portugal and it's got real purity of flavour and impressively modest alcohol without any loss of flavour. Impressive. Drink 2017-2019" (JH)
16,5/20 – Cortes de Cima Cabernet Sauvignon 2015
"Deep crimson. Sweet cassis purity on the nose, the oak showing more on the palate in a touch of chocolate sweetness and a slight thickening of the tannins. Again lovely freshness and mouth-filling fruit without any hint of over ripeness. Still a bit chewy in texture but you could nevertheless drink this with or without food. Good length. Drink 2017-2019" (JH)
16/20 – Chamine Tinto 2017
"Mid cherry red. Ripe, sweet-fruited and spicy with a wide range of dark and red fruits all nicely combined in the aroma. Juicy, moreish and very drinkable, lots of freshness, subtle tannins. Well balanced and friendly. I defy anyone not to like this as a straightforward but not simple fruity red – packed with fruit and yet no unwanted sweetness. VGV at the retail price of €5.50. Would make a really good, reliable house red. Delicious and even better on the day after opening. Drink 2018-2020" (JH)
16/20 – Dois Terroirs Tinto 2014
"Mid crimson. The oak seems to show more on the nose here even though it is only on the Pinot component. But on the palate, there is mouth-watering and juicy fruit, more red than black. Still quite chewy but defnitely ready now and lots of interest for the price. Good length too, and ageing well for a wine at this price. GV Drink 2016-2021" (JH)
16/20 – Cortes de Cima Rosé 2017
"Pretty, pale salmon pink. Delicate red-fruit aroma, with just a hint of blossom and orange. Subtle and inviting. Deliciously fresh and bone dry (RS 1.1 g/l), just how I like my rosé. Harmonious, finely scented on the palate too, with water-watering red-fruited aftertaste. GV Drink 2017-2018" (JH)
16,5/20 – Cortes de Cima Branco 2017
"Even though the sample is quite cool (should have taken it out of the fridge earlier), this is still wonderfully intense on the nose, with ripe citrus and stone fruit as well as the greener fruits of the Sauvignon, and there's some just-ripe apricot from the Viognier. On the palate, the lees and oak ageing have given a lovely texture that provides shape for the mouth-watering yet creamy rich fruit. Just a little salty on the aftertaste. Very good blend and GV. Long, fragrant finish. Drink 2018-2021" (JH)
"Aromatic with ctirus and gooseberry but not excessively pungent. There's grapefruit and greengage too - green flavours but fully ripe. The aromas are matched on the palate and there's impressive concentration here with no loss of freshness, and good length. Has all the ripeness and flavour of the Alentejo allied to the freshness of the maritime site. GV Drink 2018-2019" (JH)
16/20 – Chaminé Branco 2017
"intensely aromatic with ripe citrus, a light floral note and tangy grapefruit zest. On the palate, finely dry with a very slightly chewy texture that brings greater complexity to all that zesty fruit. Mouth-watering and refreshing. Not particularly concentrated but lots of pleasure for the price and surprisingly persistent. Well done. Drink 2018-2019" (JH)
