Cortes de Cima Cabernet Sauvignon

One of the ‘noble’ Bordeaux varieties. A late ripener, it is better suited for warmer climates, like Alentejo, where it can reach a good maturity, resulting in wines of intense concentration and color, strong tannins and aromatic complexity

Vintage 2015

Characterized by very favorable growing season conditions and led to one of the best vintages in recent years. Cold and dry winter, warm and dry summer, free of heat waves, dry September.

Vinification

100% Cabernet Sauvignon grown sustainably on the ancient clay over limestone soils in own vineyards surrounding our estate in Vidigueira.

This single parcel was harvested separately according to ripeness. The fruit was destemmed and gently crushed, following fermentation under temperature control for 2 weeks in stainless steel tanks, with gentle punchdowns, pumpovers and delestage. The wine matured for 12 months in  French oak barrels.

Our Winemaker´s comments

Displaying characteristic aromas of mint, bell pepper and blackcurrant. It is elegant and intensely flavoured with sweet fruit and well structured and well integrated grainy tannins.

Reviews

“Currant and mulberry flavors are cast with graphite and menthol accents in this medium - to full-bodied red. Full tannins are nicely integrated into the clean finish, marked by spice and mineral details.” Gillian Sciaretta, Wine Spectator, June 2019

“lovely freshness and mouth-filling fruit. Good length." Julia Harding MW, jancisrobinson.com, October 2018
